3D shape

We've been naming and describing some common 3D shapes, using the correct mathematical vocabulary i.e. vertices, edges, faces etc.

Good questions to ask...
How do you know this is a... cylinder? - it has 3 faces, (1 is curved and 2 are flat)
                                                              it has 2 edges
                                                              it has 0 vertices

The children must know the difference between 2D and 3D shapes
We say ... 2D= flat shapes
                3D = solid shapes

2D - circle, triangle, square, rectangle - these have sides and corners!
3D shapes have faces, edges and vertices!     Complicated I know!!
